Friday Morning Coffee #11

Good morning, folks.

Last weekend, I traveled to Pennsylvania to be with our family. While my poor Scott was here in the snow, I was enjoying a world coming alive to spring. The trees were in bloom, coated with soft white and pink blossoms. Spring's new growth stood out in bright greens, sharp against the still-bare trees.

(This picture is obviously not from last week - no corn in the end of March! But it's always captured that same feeling of home.)

Though I've not lived there for years, the sight of the Pennsylvania landscape always brings that inner sigh: home. Rolling fields sprouting silos that cut along the skyline, dividing the blue-purple mountains in the distance - there's a familiar comfort, a sense of belonging.

The occasion of my trip was the bridal shower of my sweet sister-in-law. There's such excitement and delight in celebrating an upcoming marriage. Since our wedding wasn't all that long ago, I feel like I can remember a lot of the emotions in the preparation and anticipation process. I also remember the feeling when the long wait is over, and you finally embark on the new adventure of marriage. It's a beautiful thing.

What are you thinking about this Friday?
