Friday Morning Coffee #19

Good morning, friends. And happy Friday!

It's a glorious day here in New Hampshire. I'm looking out at the giant silver maple in our front yard, at the sunlight flickering among the dancing leaves, and I can't help but sigh with delight. It's actually quite mesmerizing.

I hiked up a mountain last weekend. For many of you, that may seem simply like a nice weekend activity (which it was), but for us, it was quite a victory.

Two years ago, I would have sent Scott on without me. I would have curled up on the couch and watched Call the Midwife or something of that sort. A few quiet tears would have slipped down my cheeks, and then I would have settled myself in to trying to just rest and enjoy the down time. The energy to do something as luxurious as hiking was non-existent. Going to the grocery store was enough of a challenge.

But now here I am, pumped with vitamin D, and I'm hiking again. I cannot begin to express how it felt to trust my legs to get me to the top, to get me back down, to still have the strength and energy to walk to the car, to not pay for the exertion for days. It was soul-filling to be with good friends, to be stomping around in the woods with their puppy, to not be confined to a chair. And the view from the top was pretty excellent as well.

Have you had any victorious moments this week? Any evidence of answers to prayer?
