Happy Friday, friends. And welcome to the newest series of posts on my blog. Imagine this as you and me sitting down with a good cup of coffee for a little Friday morning chat. I'll be sharing random thoughts and stories, what I'm learning or reading or listening to, or that recipe I just keep making again and again. Basically whatever is on the brain on my Friday morning.
I'd love to hear what you're thinking about too, so feel free to share in the comments or on social media. I don't want to do all the talking.
Of course, on this Friday morning, most of us (in the U.S. at least) are thinking about the presidential inauguration. Friend, here are my thoughts about the inauguration this morning:
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. . . . If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit." - Galations 5:22-23, 25
"My Kingdom is not of this world." - Jesus in John 18:36
Our King Jesus is bigger than any politics or political leaders. Our words and actions, today and every day, should be guided by His Lordship and marked by the fruit of the Spirit He has given to us. This doesn't mean we shouldn't be involved or that we shouldn't care. It simply means we who call ourselves Christian should have a different Spirit-led voice in the midst of the clamor. We should look like Him. My question continues to be, "Lord, where are you in this? And what does it look like to follow You faithfully?" If only I let that frame of mind shape each day!
What are you thinking about this Friday?
