Happy Friday, folks.
Since I can't even count the number of times this song has been played in our house this week, I thought I'd share it with you. If you haven't heard of Audrey Assad, you really should check her out. She has a moving story, and I always feel like she "gets it." Her music consistently wrestles through the "real life" reality of faith - that sometimes it's hard, and joy is found in who the Lord is, not because everything is easy.
I've been mulling over that line "the foxes in the vineyard will not steal my joy." It's as if joy is already ours (it is a fruit of the Spirit, after all), we just have to refuse to allow it to be stolen from us.
It makes me think of some dear friends of ours, who face life with a chronic illness. I'm always challenged by their motto "Don't forget to laugh everyday." When I see these words emblazoned in red on their magnet on our fridge, I'm reminded to embrace joy wherever it can be found.
We experienced this last weekend, at a friend's birthday gathering, when we were laughing to the point of tears. It felt so good to laugh that hard - to the point where your chest hurts and you can hardly catch a breath.
I hope that wherever you find yourself today, you can embrace joy...and find something to laugh about. It really is good for the soul.
What are you thinking about today?
